Current Volunteer Opportunities:
Administrative Volunteer
Time Commitment: 2 days/week. 4-hour shifts.
Description: Nashville Location Only. Administrative Volunteers are the first point of contact for people connecting with The Family Center. The main task will be speaking with people on the phone when they call (or, on rare occasions, at the door), and directing them to the appropriate department. Volunteer Receptionists will also assist with the daily operations of our organization by helping the staff with miscellaneous tasks around the office. We're looking for someone friendly and social, organized, and interested in learning about The Family Center mission.
Duties:
- answer phones
- greet guests/delivery drivers at the door
- scheduling
- direct clients to appropriate department
- filing, putting together packets and thank you notes
- putting together marketing packets
- scanning/uploading old paper files
Translator
Time Commitment: Flexible between 1 and 20 hours per week.
Description: We are especially looking for Spanish and Arabic speakers to help us become more accessible to our community. If you're a native speaker of these languages, or have formal training in them, we would love your help in translating some documents and materials for us!
Additional Language Needs:

Duties: translate documents (from English to other languages)
Family Center Ambassador
Time Commitment: Flexible
Description: If you're passionate about trauma informed knowledge and practices, join our speakers bureau and become a Family Center Ambassador. We provide training on trauma, Adverse Childhood Experiences/Adverse Community Environments (ACEs), and the services we provide here at TFC. Then we will unleash you to the community as our ambassadors. Bring this knowledge to church, schools, and community events. Advocate for change and spread awareness of available help!
Duties:- complete training
- identify interested organizations
- bring knowledge and materials to organizations
- report back to TFC with data
Community Partner Appreciation Coordinator
Time Commitment: 4x/year
Description: Each quarter The Family Center does something to thank our community partners! We need someone who is creative, organized, and can lead other volunteers (and staff) in the following:
Duties:- identify 4 “themes” for the year related to recognizing or thanking partners (i.e. We’re “popping” in to say thank you! – popcorn delivery in brand colored bags)
- work with staff to identify the list of partners (organizations, names, addresses, etc)
- order (through staff) materials needed to fulfill each quarter’s “thank you” gifts or thoughts
- coordinate the related marketing for distribution
- help recruit & deploy volunteers to deliver to partner organizations across multiple counties
